Government leaders commend Safe Light Initiative for impact and professionalism
The Agency for Civil Society Organizations ( ACSO), led by H.E. Mr. Fasikaw Mola, Deputy Director General, together with his delegation, recently visited the Headquarters and newly established Hub of Safe Light Initiative in Addis Ababa.
The visit focused on assessing how institutional reporting aligns with practical, on-the-ground impact. During the engagement, His Excellence emphasized the importance of ensuring that reports accurately reflect real change within communities, particularly among young people.
The ACSO delegation commended Safe Light Initiative for its transformative youth-focused programs and strong institutional culture. H.E. Mr. Fasikaw Mola highlighted that the organization demonstrates excellence in protocol, documentation, professionalism, and appreciation of partners, noting that it stands out within Ethiopia’s civil society sector.
“Safe Light is different. Every Civil Society Organization should be at this standard,” said H.E. Mr. Fasikaw Mola.
The recognition was warmly received by the Safe Light team, creating a moment of pride and reaffirming the organization’s commitment to integrity and impact.
Under the leadership of Honorable Ambassador Sileshi Umer, Safe Light Initiative has deliberately aligned its programs with the development priorities of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Africa’s Agenda 2063, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This alignment has enabled the Initiative to deliver measurable impact, particularly in empowering youth as agents of positive change.
ACSO also expressed interest in engaging with the new Safe Light Hub, which is expected to begin operations soon. The Agency further noted its confidence in Safe Light Initiative as a trusted partner, indicating that the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be a logical next step.
The visit reaffirmed a shared commitment to strong civil society, accountable institutions, and meaningful youth empowerment in Ethiopia.
