On July 5th, Safe Light Initiative demonstrated its strong commitment to Ethiopia youth empowerment by serving as a lead speaker at the Youth Dialogue hosted by the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) in Addis Ababa. This landmark event, titled “The Role of Youth in Shaping and Building the Future,” convened young Ethiopian leaders, UN agencies, and development partners to collaboratively explore how youth can drive sustainable development and national transformation.

A Youth-Led Forum Advancing Ethiopia Youth Empowerment

Distinct from conventional panel discussions, the ECA Youth Dialogue was authentically youth-driven—featuring questions and insights sourced directly from Ethiopian youth communities. The conversation revolved around four critical themes that define Ethiopia’s socio-economic future:

  • Climate Action: Empowering youth to lead environmental sustainability and resilience initiatives.
  • Employment and Entrepreneurship: Creating innovative, equitable pathways for economic inclusion.
  • Digital Transformation: Leveraging technology as a catalyst for social and economic progress.

Safe Light Initiative’s active participation underscored our commitment to elevating youth voices and fostering youth-led solutions tailored to Ethiopia’s specific challenges and opportunities. Our engagement showcased the indispensable role that youth-led organizations play in shaping policies and delivering impactful programs nationwide.
